Resetting My Focus: Faith, Family, and Letting Go of the Pressure to Perform

Updated: Jun 20

Some mornings hit harder than others. Maybe the baby was up half the night, breakfast burned, or your to-do list feels like a monster you don’t want to face.

I’ve lived many of those mornings—and in those moments, I’ve learned to stop. To reset. To breathe in something deeper than hustle.

This blog post is a personal reminder that faith is not an accessory to life—it’s the anchor.

Here’s how I intentionally reset my focus when the overwhelm creeps in:

1. I Start With Scripture, Not Social Media:Before I reach for my phone, I try to open my Bible, even if just for 5 minutes. Some mornings, I read one verse. Other days, I journal a prayer. Either way, I invite God in before the noise gets loud.

2. I Re-Anchor My Weekly Goals in Truth:It’s easy to set goals from a place of pressure—money, expectations, comparison. So I sit down once a week with my planner and ask:“What actually matters this week? What aligns with my values?”

Sometimes the answer is: focus on connection. Other weeks, it's honoring rest.

3. I Make Space for Margin + Stillness: Whether it's a quiet back porch moment with fizz or a device-free dinner with my family, I protect our peace. Intentional living isn’t about control—it’s about attention. And that starts with putting first things first.

My prayer for you:

That you give yourself grace. That you remember you're already enough. That you trade performance for presence.

You're doing holy work—in the dishes, in the late-night feedings, in the spreadsheets, in the stillness.
